About us
Wales Awake is
lead by Dudley Griffiths, supported by his wife Ann, and
they are based in Bridgend, South Wales, UK.
Dudley first sensed God calling
him back to Wales in the late
eighties having left the country for East Kent (England) in his
early
teens. He received the vision of a
revival prayer network for Wales (Wales Awake) in
1991, and in 1992 gave up formal
employment in the Health Service to move to
Bridgend.
Wales Awake
started in 1994, with revival prayer groups being set up in
Bridgend and nearby villages. With the support of
local church leaders, 24
interdenominational prayer groups were established in South and Mid
Wales, usually
meeting monthly
in homes, with the aim of praying for the locality and for Wales.
In April 2007,
after 13 years of co-ordinating groups, Dudley decided to lay
down Wales Awake as an organised network,
and sought the Lord for fresh
guidance. His desire to see revival
remained with him, however, and in early 2008 he sensed
God was wanting him to
co-ordinate prayer gatherings at key locations throughout Wales. The emphasis
was now going to
be on prophetic intercession and declaration (Wales Awake!)
rather than on an organised network of prayer groups.
The first
gathering was on 21st June of this year, when a group met
together at the official mid-point of Wales, near
Cwmystwyth.
